Impact and outcomes
See what followed your work: prompts newly won and lost, the movement after each pitch and each win, and the weekly what-worked read. Every read reports association, never cause.

These reads answer one question: what changed after your work? Use them after a placement goes live, before a client review, and once a week to see which pitches were followed by movement.
Every read here reports association, never cause. AI answers move for many reasons, so each one says what followed your work and stops there.
Where each read lives
| Read | Where to find it | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Prompts won and lost | Reports, then "Internal analysis", then "Prompts won / lost" | Which tracked prompts started or stopped naming your brand |
| Movement after a pitch | Reports, then "Outcomes"; a page's detail panel, under "Impact after outreach" | How mentions and citations moved on a page's prompts after you pitched it |
| Movement after a win | Reports, then "Impact timeline" | How visibility moved on a win's linked prompts after it went live |
| What worked this week | Reports, then "Internal analysis", then "Briefing" on 7d | A short read of recent pitches and what followed them |
Prompts newly won and lost
This tab compares the window you pick with the window before it. It opens on the last 7 days; switch to 30d or 90d at the top right.
Prompts sit in three sections:
- Prompts newly won: your brand is in at least one answer this window, and was in none the window before.
- Prompts newly lost: your brand was named before and is in no answer now.
- Still winning: named in both windows. This section starts folded.
Each row shows the prompt, its buying stage, and how "mentions" and "responses" moved from the window before to this one. When an AI engine names you now and did not last window, the row lists it after "flipped".
Two labels help you judge a row:
- Stance says how this window's answers framed your brand: Recommended, Mixed (praise and criticism) or Criticized (at least one answer compared you unfavorably). No pill means the answers only named you plainly, or were not classified. A newly won prompt with a Criticized pill is not a clean win, so don't report it as one. The pills are defined in Visibility and share of voice.
- Impact says how much the movement matters to you, and the newly won and newly lost lists are ordered by its size. A row with no figure is not measured, not zero.
Each section shows 50 prompts at a time; "Show more" opens the next 50.
Movement after each pitch
When a page becomes Pitched (its first email goes out, or you set the status by hand), a baseline is captured. Your mentions and citations on the page's linked prompts in the 30 days before the pitch are then compared with the 30 days after, recomputed on every data update. Citations are answers that list your site as a source.
You see this measurement in three places:
- "Visibility lift after pitching" on Outcomes: pitched pages still in play (not agreed, live or lost) whose mentions or citations rose after the pitch. Each card shows the page, its status, the pitch date, "Mentions" and "Citations" as before → after, and up to three prompts that moved. "About this placement" unfolds the publisher's facts. The biggest rise in mentions comes first; six cards show, then "Show all".
- "The pitch behind it" on a win's proof card: unfold it on Outcomes to read when you pitched the page and how mentions and citations moved after the pitch.
- "Impact after outreach" in the page's detail panel: the "Closed-loop" reading since the pitch date, with mentions and citations before → after, the prompts that moved most, and when it was last refreshed.
Until the first data update after the pitch, the movement is not measured yet. "The pitch behind it" says so, and the detail panel says the baseline is captured and the numbers come after the next update. Not measured yet is not the same as zero.
A lift is a supporting signal. It never becomes a win and never counts as a placement. If a lifted page is published with your mention, record it with "Add manual win" at the top of Outcomes. Wins and verification covers that step.
Movement after each win
The Impact timeline compares the periods before and after a verified win went live. It reads only that win's linked prompts, for your brand, on all platforms.
- Open Reports, then "Impact timeline".
- Pick a win: click a numbered marker on the chart, or a row in "Verified wins in this period".
- Read the "28-day baseline" card (the 28 days ending the day before the live date) and the post-period card. The first 7 days after the live date are skipped so answers can refresh.
- If the post period is thin, switch between 28d, 56d and 84d.
- Read the "Interpretation" box and its evidence chip. "Methodology" sums up how the comparison works.
The "Selected win" panel adds "Post-win movement": the change in points, how many linked prompts improved, and a note when other wins went live within 9 weeks of this one.
| Evidence label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Early | The period after the win has not ended yet, so it cannot be read. |
| No clear movement | Visibility did not rise clearly after the win. |
| Possible association | Visibility rose after the win, but not enough for a firmer read. The "Interpretation" box says why. |
| Moderate association | Visibility rose clearly after the win. |
| Strong association | The firmest read the timeline gives. |
| Insufficient data | Fewer than 5 valid checks on one side. Try a longer post period. |
On Outcomes, the "Wins with movement" tile counts wins followed by a lasting rise on their own linked prompts. Wins too new, or with too few checks, are left out rather than counted as no movement.
What worked this week
The 7-day period briefing that refreshes each week carries a "What worked this week" section: a short paragraph and up to five highlights on recently pitched pages and what followed each pitch. Open Reports, then "Internal analysis", then "Briefing", and pick 7d.
When too few pitched pages show movement yet, the section says so plainly instead of guessing, and suggests checking again after the next data update or two. With no recent pitches or outreach at all, the section is left out.
A 7-day briefing you regenerate by hand does not carry this section; it returns with the next weekly refresh. It prints and shares with the briefing as "What worked". Sharing, printing and briefings covers those steps.
You can also ask Spot what followed your pitches. It answers from the same measurements: how many pages you pitched, how many were followed by more mentions or citations, and how many went live afterward.
Association, never causation
A rise after your pitch or placement is real data, not proof that your work caused it. Other wins in the same window and movement across the wider market can move the same prompts.
Every screen keeps to this:
- Each chip, card and sentence says what followed a pitch or a win.
- The Interpretation box ends with a standing note that the label reports association only.
- The PDF opens with a line saying movement after a placement is reported as association, never as proof of cause.
- Other wins within 9 weeks of the one you read are disclosed on its panel, because two wins that close cannot be read apart.
When you write to a client, use the same words: "after the placement, mentions rose", never "the placement drove mentions".
Good to know
- The report's share link and PDF carry the Impact timeline and your delivered wins, never "Visibility lift after pitching", "The pitch behind it" or Internal analysis. A briefing shared by link does carry "What worked", so read it before a client sees it.
- Prompts won and lost is AI-visibility movement; Outcomes is what you earned from outreach. A prompt can be newly won with no pitch behind it.
- In Opportunities, the strategist briefing can carry a card for pitches gone stale with no measured lift. Use it to check whether the placement happened.
