Choose your domain and queries
Enter your domain and up to three search queries, one per line. Select the country and language your buyers use.
Wait for Google collection
The tool collects organic results and loads the AI Overview when available. Pending or failed searches remain clearly marked.
Review the gaps and source pages
Compare your returned organic positions with resolved AI citation links. Open the cited pages before deciding what to improve.
A missing overview, unfinished collection and an unresolved citation are different outcomes. The sample does not establish a ranking beyond the returned results.
Organic results and AI citations together
See which kind of search evidence is present
Enter your domain URL and one to three search queries. The tool returns a recent desktop Google snapshot for each completed query and compares your hostname and subdomains with organic results and resolved AI Overview citation URLs.
Each query keeps separate states for organic rank, overview presence, citation resolution and target match. A pending, failed or malformed collection is unavailable evidence. A completed result with no observed overview is different from an overview whose citations could not be resolved.
Read organic rank and AI citations as separate evidence
This fictional Harbor query illustrates a completed Google snapshot. The positions, domains and states shown here are examples only.
Harbor ranks at position 8 in this example
Organic position belongs to the returned query snapshot. A missing target has no established rank beyond the collected result set.
Query, overview, source
Read every query as its own completed snapshot
This fictional Harbor example illustrates how organic and AI citation observations remain separate.
Keep the market and requested count with the run
Enter up to three queries, one per line. Read each completed result as a separate recent snapshot for the selected market.

A practical workflow
How to use the Google AI Overview gap checker
Enter the domain and up to three queries
Use one query per line, then choose the country and language for the desktop Google snapshot.
Wait for each query status
Check requested, completed, pending and failed counts. Do not read an unfinished query as an absent overview.
Compare organic and citation evidence
Review organic position, overview state, actual citation URLs and domain matches separately for every completed query.
State-by-state reading
Absence requires a completed observation
For each completed Google snapshot, the tool records whether an AI Overview was observed, the returned organic results and any citation destinations it can resolve. Target matching uses your normalized hostname and its subdomains.
No overview observed means the completed result did not contain one. Pending, failed and malformed collections do not support that statement. An observed overview with unresolved citations supports overview presence but not a claim about which destination was cited.
Completed, no overview observed
The returned snapshot completed and contained no observed AI Overview for that query.
Overview with resolved citations
Actual citation destinations can be listed and compared with the target hostname.
Pending or unavailable
Collection did not produce usable final evidence, so no absence observation is recorded.
Snapshot boundaries
One snapshot does not establish permanent visibility
The checker returns a recent desktop Google snapshot for each of up to three queries. It does not search every device or location or maintain a historical rank and citation tracker.
Search features and positions can change. Keep each query, country, language, timestamp, collection status and actual source URL with the result. If the target is missing, describe it as not observed within the returned sample rather than assigning a rank beyond that sample.

Questions, answered
Google AI Overview gap checker: your questions answered
A closer look at the inputs, method and next steps.
How many Google queries can I check?
Enter one to three queries, one per line. Each completed query is shown as its own recent desktop snapshot.
Does no AI Overview observed mean Google never shows one?
No. It means a completed snapshot did not contain an observed overview for that query, market and time. Search features can change.
Is a pending query counted as no overview?
No. Pending, failed and malformed collections remain unavailable and cannot establish absence.
How is my domain matched?
The checker normalizes the hostname and matches it and its subdomains against returned organic URLs and resolved AI Overview citation destinations.
Are ordinary search-result URLs treated as AI citations?
No. A citation must come from the returned AI Overview evidence and resolve to an actual source destination. Organic result URLs remain separate.
What if a citation reference cannot be resolved?
The overview can still be reported as observed, but the unresolved reference does not support a source-domain or target-match claim.
Does the tool track rankings over time?
No. Each run is a bounded snapshot. Export the query-level evidence if you need to compare separately collected dates.
