Review how your page explains its subject

  1. Choose a page with useful answers

Enter a public article, guide or product page. The audit works from the HTML returned at that address.

  2. Inspect structure and source cues

Review explanation patterns, headings, lists, attribution cues, publisher context, structured-data syntax and indexing directives.

  3. Make the explanation easier to use

Use the findings to clarify definitions, organize substantial sections and check supporting sources against the actual claims.

Some language checks use English patterns. No AI engine is queried, and citations or answer inclusion are not measured.

Make answers understandable

Review the explanations and structure in a published page.

Enter a public guide, article or product page to inspect the explanation available in its initial HTML. Start with the subject, then follow the evidence and qualifications that help a reader understand it.

Review definition and attribution cues, headings, lists, tables, authorship, publisher details and page directives. Each finding gives you a specific part of the published page to inspect.

A practical workflow

How to use the GEO audit

  • Choose a substantive public page

Submit the guide, article or product explanation you want to review. The URL must return accessible HTML.

  • Inspect the weak evidence

Read definition, attribution and structure findings alongside the actual page. Check whether a warning reflects a real gap or a language limitation.

  • Separate editing from measurement

Improve the page, then use a citation or visibility tool for a separate AI-answer sample. Do not treat this audit as that sample.

Example

Give the answer a subject, structure and scope

A container-gardening guide shows how a direct explanation, organized detail and page directives fit into an HTML review.

Container gardening is growing plants in pots or other containers.

The definition names the subject and explains it directly. Keep the guide’s small-space scope beside the opening.

How the audit works

Read each finding with its method in mind.

The audit reads initial HTML and applies English definition and attribution patterns. It does not execute JavaScript, verify sources or query AI answers. Use the findings to locate passages that deserve an editorial check.

Section findings count HTML headings, lists and tables. Sentence load estimates words per punctuation-delimited sentence. JSON-LD findings report JSON syntax and observed types; schema-specific requirements need a separate validation step.

An answer specimen

Give an explanation a subject, evidence and scope.

Give the subject a clear definition, keep evidence close to claims and choose a useful structure.

Answer the question before expanding it.

Name the subject and explain it directly. Then state the setting or audience so the reader knows where the advice applies.

Example opening paragraphExample
  1. QuestionWhat is container gardening?
  2. DefinitionContainer gardening is growing plants in pots or other containers.
  3. ScopeThis guide focuses on small outdoor spaces.

Keep the definition and scope together.

Choose the next check

Follow the question the page leaves open.

For an unclear explanation, revise the passage and its supporting evidence. For a surprising indexing directive, confirm how the page should be discovered. For a crawler-policy question, use the AI crawlability checker to test the URL against robots.txt.

After editing, use an AI-answer sample when you want to investigate actual mentions or citations. Keep those observations separate from the HTML review so each result answers a clear question.

GEO content checker

Review content structure, specificity and extraction-friendly formatting.

AI crawlability checker

Check robots rules for named crawler tokens alongside page directives and source content.

AI citation tracker

Find cited websites in sampled AI answers and check whether your domain appears.

Pick a question and I’ll explain how this tool works.

Does this audit ask ChatGPT or other AI engines?

No. It fetches one public page and runs deterministic HTML and text checks. Actual AI-answer sampling is available through separate citation and visibility tools.

Will I get a GEO score?

The report provides findings and observed page metrics, not a universal citation or visibility score. No reliable AI recommendation probability is calculated from these cues.

Does it check robots.txt?

No. This branch observes HTML and header indexing directives but does not retrieve robots.txt. Use the AI crawlability checker for product-token policy matching.

Are the linked sources verified?

No. HTTP links and attribution language are evidence cues. The tool does not open references, assess source quality or determine whether a cited document supports the claim.

Can I audit content in another language?

The HTML checks still apply, but definition and attribution patterns are English-oriented. Review those findings manually instead of interpreting an absent English cue as a content failure.

Does valid JSON-LD make the page eligible for rich results?

Not necessarily. This audit checks whether JSON-LD parses and notes observed types. Search-feature eligibility and schema-specific requirements need a separate validation step.

How does this differ from the GEO content checker?

This audit retrieves a public HTML page and inspects its document structure. The content checker analyzes pasted text, which is useful before publication or when drafting a specific passage.
