How the check works
Use text patterns to choose what to review.
The checker applies defined text rules, including English explanation and attribution patterns. An evidence finding means URL and attribution cues appeared together; the tool does not open sources, verify claims or ask an AI model to judge the passage.
An absent cue can be reasonable. A short product instruction may not need a formal definition or an external citation. Decide what the reader needs before adding structure or references.

Start with a direct, bounded definition.
A reader should understand what the subject means before encountering a long background section. The checker recognizes simple English explanation patterns, not the truth of the definition.

Sentence load
Use the estimate as a prompt to read aloud.
Sentence load divides word tokens by punctuation-delimited sentences. Abbreviations, decimal punctuation and different language conventions can affect that estimate. The tool flags a high average for review, but does not perform a comprehensive readability assessment.
A technical sentence may need precision and qualifications. Split it when that improves comprehension while preserving its meaning. Removing a caveat to shorten the sentence can make the content less useful even if a heuristic appears cleaner.

Does the tool use an AI model?
No. It uses transparent text rules for explanation, attribution, sections, sentence load and topic matching. No generative engine is asked to judge the draft.
Can it predict whether the passage will be cited?
No. Content structure alone cannot establish retrieval or citation. Use a separate AI-answer sample to observe what an engine actually returns for a specific question.
Does it check whether my claims are true?
No. It detects source-like URLs and attribution language, but does not open those references or compare them with the claims. Verification remains a separate editorial task.
Why does a non-English definition receive a warning?
Definition and attribution cues are based on English patterns. Unicode counts and phrase tokens still work, but language-related findings need manual interpretation in other languages.
How are paragraphs and characters counted?
Characters use Unicode code points after the analysis trims the input. Paragraphs are separated by blank lines. These are descriptive counts, not measures of display width or content quality.
Does the topic check recognize synonyms?
No. It looks for whole-token matches after Unicode compatibility and case normalization. Related terms and inflections are not treated as the exact target phrase.
Should every passage contain a citation?
Only where evidence is useful and appropriate. Verify important claims and link relevant sources. Adding an unrelated URL merely to clear a warning does not improve the explanation.
