How this tool worksSamples the selected engines once each for your question. Completed answers, citations and failures are reported separately. This recent snapshot does not establish visibility over time and may differ from results seen in personal chats because timing, model and context can change.
AI citation tracking
See which sources AI answers cite
AI citation tracking records the pages an answer engine links as sources for a buyer question. It is different from mention tracking: an answer can name your brand while citing someone else, or cite your site without naming you.
Use this free AI citation checker for a current snapshot across Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini. Read each completed answer beside its sources, then export the result with the question, selected engines and time.
Track the mention and the citation separately
This fictional Harbor example shows why brand mentions, cited websites and completed answers need to be checked together.
Does the answer text name Harbor?
Read the sentence containing the name to see whether Harbor is suggested, compared or simply discussed.

How to check AI citations
Enter the brand and buyer question
Use the exact brand name you want to measure. Add the website if you also want cited-domain matching.
Choose engines and market settings
Select one engine or all three, then country and language. Each selected engine is sampled once for the supplied question.
Review answers and source links
Read completed answers, inspect citations and keep unavailable engines separate. Export the snapshot if you need a dated evidence record.
Question, answer, source
Read the mention, follow the citation
Ask a buyer question, inspect the visible answer and follow the sources attached to it.
Start with a question a buyer could ask unaided
A question about a real need makes the observation easier to interpret. The brand and website are measurement inputs; the tool does not automatically insert them into the question it sends.

- Website input
Optional: match source hosts against the brand’s site
- Engine selectionClaude, ChatGPT, Gemini or all three
Keep the buyer question neutral when measuring unaided brand mentions.
Collection method
How each answer is collected
Claude uses the Anthropic API with web search. ChatGPT and Gemini use provider-mediated consumer-answer snapshots. The output identifies each collection path.
ChatGPT search is requested, with execution assessed from returned provider evidence. Gemini source links alone do not verify a fresh web search. Read the reported grounding context alongside each answer.
Reliable measurement
From one AI citation check to reliable tracking
One run is a dated snapshot, not a historical trend. Use it to inspect what each completed answer cited now. For ongoing AI citation tracking, repeat the same commercially relevant prompts with the same engines, country and language on a consistent refresh schedule.
Keep failed, interrupted or incomplete requests as unavailable rather than counting them as brand absence. The same source can appear across several engines. Changes between runs are observations, not proof that one content edit or mention caused the result.
GEO visibility checker
Compare how three AI engines answer the same buyer question and describe your brand.
AI Visibility Tracker
Move from one citation check to repeated prompt measurement across a broader AI visibility programme.
AI crawlability checker
Check robots rules for named crawler tokens alongside page directives and source content.
AI citation tracking explained
AI citation tracking: your questions answered
A closer look at the inputs, method and next steps.
What is AI citation tracking?
AI citation tracking records which pages an AI answer links as sources for a chosen question. Useful tracking keeps the prompt, engine, market and time with each completed answer so you can compare like with like.
Is this an AI citation checker or a tracker?
Both terms describe the same task, but the scope matters. This free checker runs one current snapshot across the selected engines. It does not schedule monitoring or build a historical citation trend.
Which engines does this citation tracker check?
This standalone tool checks Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini, individually or together. Full reports are a separate workflow; this result describes only the engines and question sampled here.
Is a mention the same as a recommendation?
No. The tool matches the visible brand name. Read the answer to determine whether it recommends, compares, criticizes or simply refers to that brand.
Can my website be cited without my brand being mentioned?
Yes. Website citations and visible brand mentions are matched separately. A source URL can belong to your domain even when the measured name does not appear in the answer text.
Does the website input limit citations to one page?
No. Website matching uses the normalized host and its subdomains. A page path in the supplied URL does not restrict the match to that particular page.
Does the tool track citations over time?
No. Each run samples the selected engines once. You can retain an export, but this checker does not schedule monitoring or calculate a historical citation trend.
Why might a result differ from my own AI chat?
The collection path, model, time and user context can differ. Claude is sampled through its API, while the other two use provider-mediated snapshots; neither is a reproduction of your personal conversation.
What should I do with an interesting source?
Open it and examine what information it provides. Use the source to guide a content or editorial review, without assuming a citation guarantees influence over future answers.
