How this tool worksChecks supplied title text for length, exact phrase matches, formatting and English promise cues. Review the wording against your video; the check does not measure views or rankings.
Set the right expectation
A good title tells the right viewer what they will get.
Before asking whether a title attracts clicks, ask whether the video delivers its promise. This checker reviews the supplied wording for length, exact target-phrase matches, heavy capitalization, repeated punctuation and repetition. It also looks for simple English format or benefit cues.
The result is an editing aid. It does not inspect the video, thumbnail, channel analytics or search results. Keep the subject and distinguishing detail clear, then assess the title alongside the actual content and your own audience evidence.
Make the video’s subject clear before the title runs long
A balcony-gardening title combines a recognizable subject, seven promised tips and a length check.
Balcony gardening for beginners
Make the topic recognizable early. Add “balcony garden” as the target phrase to check its exact wording in the draft.
A title specimen
Make the topic, format and scope work together.
Make the subject clear, choose an accurate format cue and remove wording that crowds out the promise.
Make the main subject recognizable early.
Use the phrase a viewer would recognize when it accurately describes the video. A whole-token match is a count, not evidence of search demand.

A practical workflow
How to use the YouTube title SEO checker
Paste one proposed title
Enter up to 500 input characters and optionally add the target word or phrase. No video URL or channel connection is required.
Read the four checks
Review title length, target matching, readability and viewer-promise cues. Treat the 35–70 character range as guidance rather than a ranking rule.
Revise against the video
Keep the accurate subject and strongest relevant detail. Run your revision again, then check how it works with the thumbnail and video content.
Length with context
Characters are not a display-width measurement.
The checker counts Unicode code points and uses a 35–70 character editorial guide. A title over 100 characters receives a failure check. The input field’s larger limit lets you inspect an overlong draft; it is not a recommendation to publish that length.
Actual display varies by device and YouTube surface. A narrow letter and a wide letter take different space, and a multi-code-point emoji can look like one symbol. Preserve the useful meaning near the beginning rather than treating the count as a precise truncation preview.
Read matching correctly
The target phrase is literal, not semantic.
Phrase matching uses normalized Unicode word tokens and ignores case. It does not infer synonyms, stem words or measure intent. “Balcony garden” and “balcony gardening” remain different phrases even when a reader considers them closely related.
The viewer-promise check recognizes numbers, question marks and English cue words such as how or review. A title without those cues can still be appropriate. YouTube’s own title guidance emphasizes accuracy and concise wording; use the check to inspect the promise, not manufacture one.

Questions, answered
YouTube title SEO checker: your questions answered
A closer look at the inputs, method and next steps.
Can the checker predict views or rankings?
No. It analyzes only your supplied title. No video performance, audience retention, click-through rate, channel history or live search data is queried.
What title length should I aim for?
The tool uses 35–70 Unicode characters as an editorial guide and flags titles over 100. Keep the wording accurate and useful; the suggested range is not a promise about display or performance.
Does it inspect my thumbnail?
No. Review the thumbnail yourself alongside the title. They should set a consistent expectation without relying on an exaggerated claim that the video cannot support.
Why is my related phrase not a match?
Matching is based on complete normalized word tokens. Synonyms, inflections and reordered phrases do not automatically count as the exact target phrase.
Can I check a non-English title?
Unicode counts and token matching apply, but format and benefit cues use English patterns. Judge those language-specific observations manually.
Does it generate a replacement title?
This checker reviews the title you provide. Use the YouTube title generator for separate draft alternatives, then review any candidate against the real video before using it.
Should I repeat the keyword to improve the result?
No. Repetition adds no evidence of relevance or demand. The checker can flag heavily repeated words; use the phrase naturally and spend the remaining space on useful context.
