Read a domain’s backlink metrics

  1. Enter the domain’s URL

The check uses the domain and its subdomains. A page path does not restrict the report to that individual page.

  2. Inspect the backlink evidence

Review the proprietary 0–1000 rank, live backlinks, referring domains and backlink spam metric when those values are available.

  3. Compare like-for-like reports

Use the same metric and domain scope for comparisons. Read the linked metric definitions before interpreting a value or change.

The proprietary backlink rank uses a 0–1000 scale. It is not Moz Domain Authority, Ahrefs Domain Rating or a Google score.

Know the metric

Enter a domain to see DataForSEO’s backlink rank on a 0–1000 scale, plus available live-backlink, referring-domain and spam-score metrics. The lookup includes the domain and its subdomains.

Keep the provider’s name and scale with your comparison. This is DataForSEO’s backlink overview, not Moz Domain Authority, Ahrefs Domain Rating or a Google score. Inspect the site’s audience and content before deciding whether it is a relevant prospect.

Example

Four links can still come from only two domains

A fictional four-link example shows how backlinks group by source domain. Count the links, then count where they come from.

Four example links in total

Each paper slip represents one backlink. Several links can come from the same website.

A practical workflow

How to use the Domain authority checker

  • Enter the domain URL

Use the website you want to inspect. The lookup covers the domain and its subdomains, rather than an individual page path.

  • Read the named metrics

Check the DataForSEO rank and its 0–1000 scale, then review the available backlink and referring-domain figures.

  • Keep comparisons consistent

Compare results from the same provider and scope. Combine the numbers with a source review before making a prospecting decision.

Read the profile

Compare the counts, then inspect the website

Identify the provider’s scale, read the supporting counts and assess the source itself.

Keep the name and scale attached

Read the result as DataForSEO rank out of 1000. Changing its label to DA or DR would imply a different provider and methodology that this tool does not use.

The metric identityExample
  1. ProviderDataForSEO
  2. MetricBacklink rank
  3. Scale0–1000
  4. CoverageTarget domain and subdomains

Keep the provider name and 0–1000 scale attached to the rank.

One index, one methodology

Compare metrics from the same provider

Backlink indexes differ in coverage and calculation. Compare DataForSEO rank with the same metric on another domain, keeping the 0–1000 scale intact. Dividing the number does not turn it into another provider’s score.

Practical interpretation

Use the overview to choose what to investigate

The live summary includes subdomains. A detailed link audit, gained-or-lost history or explanation of a search position requires separate evidence.

Treat the spam score as a provider assessment to investigate, not a verdict or an automatic instruction to remove links. Relevant content and audience fit still matter when choosing an editorial partner.

Discover relevant pages to assess for coverage and outreach opportunities.

Domain traffic checker

Inspect modeled organic traffic and ranking-keyword estimates for a domain.

SEO analyzer & auditor

Inspect titles, headings, metadata, image alt attributes and indexing directives.

Pick a question and I’ll explain how this tool works.

Is this Moz Domain Authority?

No. This checker reports DataForSEO backlink rank on a 0–1000 scale. It does not retrieve Moz Domain Authority or Ahrefs Domain Rating.

Is the rank a Google ranking factor?

It is a metric supplied by DataForSEO, not a score reported by Google. The checker does not establish how it relates to a particular search position.

Why show referring domains as well as backlinks?

Several backlinks can originate from one domain. The two counts describe different aspects of the provider’s backlink summary and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Does the result include subdomains?

Yes. The request includes the target domain and its subdomains. Entering a page URL does not change this into a page-level authority score.

What is a good DataForSEO rank?

There is no universal threshold supplied by this tool. Compare like-for-like domains using the same provider and scope, then consider relevance and source quality separately.

Can the tool audit suspicious links?

It reports summary metrics, including an available spam score. It does not inspect each backlink or decide which links should be removed, ignored or disavowed.
